DataShelter is an RFE application that helps financial organisations to solve data privacy and compliance issues when using Salesforce.com.

Within banks and financial organisations confidential and sensitive data needs to be kept private. Users must ensure they are not falling foul of compliance regulations for their organisation when dealing with such data.

There may be instances where internal compliance rules restrict data that can reside outside your infrastructure. Data may not be ‘at rest’ or ‘in flight’ outside your organisational or geographic boundaries due to regulatory or risk management requirements, for example:

• Private wealth & investment information
• Name and Address Information
• Trade & Value Type Information
• Citizens health details

DataShelter enables users of Salesforce.com within your organisation, to access data within your firewall from your Salesforce.com instance, without exposing that data to the cloud. Using DataShelter will allow you to address these issues of data residency and privacy, whilst at the same time meeting your own requirements, and allowing you to configure, deploy and maintain this in a cost effective manner.

In developing DataShelter we applied two use cases, the first being the creation and implementation of a sales/marketing campaign where client information was both regionally confidential (e.g. Swiss sales staff could only see information about clients with accounts located in Switzerland) and where this confidential information needed to be kept within the fire wall.

In the second use case, management rather than the sales team, wished to analyse the effectiveness of this campaign, thereby mashing up CRM information with confidential and separately stored revenue trade and wallet share from separate internal systems.

DataShelter provides organisations with the capability to keep certain information highly confidential, with the ability to exploit the benefits of cloud computing.

An “Out Of The Box” edition requiring configuration and integration with your in-house data sources and that could be considered as acting as the golden source for your organisation.

DataShelter External Edition
For organisations that wish to use DataShelter as cached data and allow storage of data within their own golden source repositories.
